Weekend walks

“Now shall I walk or shall I ride?
‘Ride,’ Pleasure said;
‘Walk,’ Joy replied.”
― W.H. Davies

I couldn’t image a weekend going by without going out for a walk – whether it’s rain, snow or shine, we’re out and about, not least the fact that Bella would never forgive us!

One of the many things we loved about this house, was the ruralness of the location and the view. Even three years in, we’re still discovering new places to go without even having to get in a car.

If I was at home in the kitchen, I’d be able to see this from the doors and what a sight it is! These boys truly are the best neighbours.

Life is tough at the moment, we’re missing our loved ones, the nights are drawing in earlier and earlier, it’s cold, wet and dark. Aside from missing our family, the rest holds no fear for me – the darker nights, bring earlier and more spectacular sunsets, the cold brings with it jack frost and last but not least, the wet. The thought of wet jeans makes my toes curl, but the feeling after coming in from a wet walk, with rain dripping down your nose, drying off Bella before you start on yourself and then sitting down in your soft, dry comfies with a cuppa is the best feeling.

Even before I had a dog and lived on my own, I’d go out for walks – early morning, sunset walks or late evening summer walks to the park, where I would sit and enjoy the paper. These precious moments gave me a relief of the stresses of the day, whether that be work or otherwise.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed. but if I go for a walk, with every step the stress and worry falls away, especially if it’s a sunrise walk. At the moment, that isn’t too early, so if you can, make the most of it! You won’t regret it.

I love early morning when it feels like the rest of the world is still fast asleep
