I was surprised by the number of people that got in contact with me when I posted on stories about making these dried orange slices a week or so ago! They’re incredibly easy to make and make the house smell INCREDIBLE. You can fill bowls with them and place them around the house, get some string and cinnamon sticks to make decorations for the tree and use them on a wreath – the options are endless!

I like to make them the day that we get our Christmas tree, so when we get back, we walk into a warm, festive scented house.
You only need a few things to make these clove, scented orange slices.
- Oranges
- Whole cloves
- Greaseproof paper
- Baking tray
- A very sharp knife
Begin by grabbing a baking tray and putting some greaseproof paper on it – this is important as otherwise the oranges will stick. Preheat your oven to 120C (without the fan) and then cut the oranges into thin slices, bearing in mind that the amount of time that it takes for the oranges to dry does depend on how thickly you slice the oranges.

Once you have enough slices to fill your baking tray, start inserting the cloves.

I love the smell of cloves, so I like to put quite a few around the oranges, but put as many or as few in as you’d like!
Pop them into the oven for 2 hours and then turn over, and allow them to dry out for another 2 hours. They should be totally dried out and not have any moisture left in them, if they do they’ll end up going mouldy, which isn’t the best luck.
If they’re not quite done, pop them back in and check them every 15 minutes until you’re happy.
Then all that’s left to do, is have a Bailey’s, pop them around your house and wait for the compliments whilst you revel in how easy they were to make!
A xx
