We’re in!

It’s been a whole week since we moved in our house, now our home. Our first home together and man alive, it feels good.

Now I don’t want to brag but we have heating (bar one radiator yet to be fitted in the kitchen), a bath, plaster in the kitchen (we have a ceiling!) andddddddd BI-FOLDING DOORS!

We left booking the van until the last minute as we had so much else going on that it slipped our mind – luckily we found a brilliant van hire company just down the road, called Cotswold Vehicle Hire. They were so nice, helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend them to anyone that lives in the area and needs a van.

In my mind, we would be able to move the majority of our items (a lot of which I’d boxed) in the one day that we had the van, considering we had it from 8am and didn’t have to return it until 8pm – how wrong I was. I clearly had not been eating enough spinach because loading up the van with our furniture, chairs, beds, mattresses and gazillion boxes absolutely killed me and we only ended up doing two trips, but in my defense the van was pretty huge! And we spent no time at all giving Bella fuss…

The day before we moved in, the heating company were there until 8pm fitting the boiler, which was meant to be done completed two weeks before, so tension was high! As there is still so much work to be done and the kitchen is currently being stored in the front room, we are limited on space – luckily we have a rather roomy loft and the spare room is now full of strategically stacked furniture and boxes.

We had two weeks off work and we only spent one day not working on the house and it was immense! We popped to Chipping Norton and then went to have a couple of afternoon drinks in our nearest village, Moreton-in-Marsh, which was just dreamy. I had a day to myself without the handsome one as he went back to work earlier than me and I thought I would just have an afternoon nap and read my book. Didn’t happen, instead I had a brilliant day priming my table, buying a wooden beam for the kitchen-side of the fireplace, planting out some seedlings and I did make time to sit in my chair, read my book, have a cuppa and admire the view.

I’m so happy to be in our new house even if I do have to wash the dishes in the bath and cook on a camping stove; in the end it makes for great memories πŸ™‚
