Organising our yearly trip to Westonbirt is not quite as straightforward as you might think, COVID aside.

Luckily, during this second lockdown, Westonbirt Arboretum is open, so we can all enjoy this beautiful place and in a safe way.
No, my issue isn’t around COVID, it’s when is the absolute best time to see the arboretum in all its autumnal beauty. Too early and you’re looking at the leaves that are only *just* starting to turn and aren’t quite that beautiful orange or red hue of autumn. Too late and you’re enjoying kicking the leaves on the floor, but looking at bare trees. I told you there was more to it than just picking a date!

As luck would have it, we timed it perfectly this year (and by total accident)! We had a couple of trips away cancelled, so we booked off the first week of November and this is how we discovered Westonbirt Arboretum in its full, autumnal glory.

We took the Queen that is Bella with us and unfortunately, there were quite a few autumnal walks that were closed to us, as we had a dog. So if you go for a visit, keep that in mind.

However, as you can see, you can still enjoy the gorgeous autumn colours with your four legged bestie.

So if you’re unsure of what to do and you live in or around Gloucestershire, get your tickets booked, wellies on and head to Westonbirt Arboretum 😊
