I’ve never made an Easter wreath before, even though I’ve always wanted to, but I thought it was going to be really difficult to make – turns out I was wrong! I’ve made an artificial Easter wreath and got most of my items from Hobbycraft, but you can definitely use cuttings of blossom from the garden or moss from the lawn, it just won’t last as long and might be worth spritzing with water everyday.

Yes, it is easy to make the wreath, but you do need to have the basics, such as a glue gun, wreath base, paints etc and I know that most of these items will be sold out now. I was however, quite surprised to find quite a few crafty items stored under my bed that I’d bought ages ago, so they came in very handy.
The items that I used to make the wreath were;
– Small rattan wreath
– Natural raffia (twine would also work here)
– Speckled decorative eggs
– Mini egg nests
– Acrylic pastel paints and paintbrush
– Glue gun
– Green reindeer moss (which I bought because I liked the name!)
– Mini wooden rabbits

I had two wreathes, and started with the smaller wreath in fear of messing it up, which actually worked well as it has given me a bit of confidence doing it this way around. I didn’t want to overload the wreath because I just love the look of the rattan, so I played around with what I had and loosely laid out how I wanted it to look.

Then came the absolute carnage of painting the eggs! Because they’re so small (and because I’m clumsy), I got paint everywhere, then when I came to gluing it all together, I got moss everywhere but it was definitely good fun.

Once I’d stuck everything in place and let it dry, it was ready to be hung. Although, I do quite like it just sat on the beam above the fireplace.

It’s ended up next to the pots and pans, but I imagine it will be moved around the house this week. Only a few days to Easter now, so even though it’s going to be a quiet one, I still plan on making a big effort for just the handsome one and I. I’m really going to miss seeing my family, but the best way I can show them I love them, is by staying away.
