Guess what?!

It’s nine days until Christmas Day!

As soon as I realised this, I looked at the long range weather forecast, ever in the hope that there would be snow or at the very least a frost, but alas no, it’s *currently* lows of 4 and highs of 8. Not ideal but there’s plenty of time for it to change.

I keep seeing pictures pop up on my Amazon Prime reminding me of the snow we had a couple of years back and it’s making me feel incredibly festive.

I’m going to make the most of this month as I don’t start work until 13th January! It’s been a hard few months, I’ve had to take a step back and really take time to think about the job I want, I had the worst interview with a man who I could only describe as bully, doubting myself constantly and feeling my confidence drop everyday. In the middle of this, there is this incredible man and our trusted sidekick in Bella, supporting me through it all, which has resulted in me accepting a job in a sector that is absolutely perfect for me!

Now I can totally enjoy being at home, feel relieved and content that I have a new chapter in my career beginning soon and throw myself unequivocally into the festive season! It does also mean that I can just sit on the sofa in my dressing gown at 10am writing posts with Bella snoring and dreaming next to me without feeling like I should be looking for jobs, or prepping for interviews or scouring the job sites.

I can also do everything I can to make Christmas as special as it can be for my Handsome One, who has been my rock whilst doing an even bigger role at work himself and working ridiculous hours. This means eggnog always readily available in the fridge, mince pies in the Christmas tin, homemade sausage rolls and his favourite beers in the fridge.

So, just over a week and still plenty to be done, but lots already crossed off the list! The turkey has been ordered from the organic farm down the road, the tree has been up since 1st December, there’s an abundance of fairy lights dotted around the house, vases of eucalyptus in every room, mincemeat made and Christmas lists written.

Still need to make Jamie Oliver’s get ahead gravy, which we’re planning on doing this weekend, make some jars of spiced cranberry sauce, get a wreath for the front door, write and post my Christmas cards and so the festive list goes on, but I absolutely love it!

I plan on making every second count, whether that’s curled up with a book in front of the fire, kicking my way through the icy leaves on a dog walk or rustling something up in the kitchen. I think this week is going to be a big one in the kitchen!
