Five things that made me smile this week

The Wild Rabbit in Kingham is one of my favourite pubs to visit in the Cotswolds. It’s not far from home, has multiple open fires, comfy chairs and is absolutely picturesque in wisteria season – perfect pub to spend a lazy weekend afternoon with the papers. Oh and did I mention that they do a mean bloody mary?

Bluebells! Bluebell season is almost over and no picture really manages to grabs their magical colour and beautifully light scent. There’s so many woods around with bluebells in, so make sure to visit them soon before the disappear for another year.

Beautiful Bretforton. This incredible village is based just outside of Evesham, that is home to the renowned, The Fleece Inn, which is a stunning pub that originates back to the 16th Century . This beautiful village was where the Handsome One and I first ever lived, so it holds a special place in my heart and has the perfect setup; amazing pub, the friendliest of locals, brilliant local village shop and a great antiques shop. What more could you want?

Most mornings, when either myself or the Handsome One goes outside to let the chickens out, this is the view that we are greeted with! It’s not unusual to see five or six horses stood along the fence, all waiting patiently for a carrot (or three). It has come up in conversation with friends or family about where they would like to move to in the future should they ever sell their house, and this is one of the main reasons that I would never ever want to leave where we live.

Lazy mornings. During the week, we’re up just after 6am to walk Bella, which is so much more enjoyable in the nicer weather, but once you’re up it’s go, go, go until you get in the car, so you spend all week thinking about that Saturday morning lie-in…

The chickens however have other ideas! If it’s sunny, they are squawking their heads off as they want to be outside scratching and pooing to their hearts content. Even if you are up at the crack of dawn, knowing that you don’t have to be at work, being able to make a pot of tea and watch the world (or horses in our case) go by is one of my favourite things to do.

  1. Sounds like your week was amazing! And you’re right, that pub really does look picturesque in wisteria season… How lovely!

      1. We have a native variety of Wisteria here in Oklahoma (USA) where I’m from and it’s wonderful. Easily on my top 10 list- so I can imagine! Especially in that sort of a cozy, near fairy-tale like environment 😀
