There’s been a lot of talk recently about mental health and ways you can help with your mental state, which I think is brilliant. I don’t particularly suffer with any one thing, but I do sometimes feel overwhelmed and have a tendency to over-worry, to which I use humour and what people perceive as a bubbly personality to disguise this.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel like this very often, but there are moments when I just feel overwhelmed. There’s something that I find that really helps and that’s my morning walk with our gorgeous pooch, Bella.

Having quite a stressful job, with an hour’s commute each way means there’s less time spent at home with the my handsome hunk and Bella, meaning the time I do get at home is even more precious.
The Handsome One also has quite a commute and an even more stressful job, but he usually works from home a couple of days a week, which is great for Bella and nice for me to know he’ll be at home waiting for me.
The days that he goes into the office are the days that I walk Bella and with a 6am start, it’s not always something I look forward to! However, these walks regardless of whether it’s sunny or snowing are incredibly good for my peace of mind as I get so much enjoyment out of them, especially now I have my new camera.

I love all three of us walking together, but when it’s just me, Bella and the birds, it gives me time to gather my thoughts for the day, take in some country air and listen to the birds singing.
We are so lucky to live in such the beautiful countryside, but even when I lived in Cheltenham and didn’t have a dog, I would frequently go for a walk after work and the stresses of the day never seemed as bad by the time I got home. I was also usually starving after the walk, so food was all I could think about!
