“A picture is worth ten thousand words”, Fred R Barnard, 1927.

I genuinely love taking pictures; it’s a snapshot of a moment that when you look back in a weeks’, a months’ a years time, you’re transported back to that same moment of when the shot was taken.
I currently only use my battered iPhone 6 to take pictures, but over the weekend we had family visit and they were using a gorgeous DSLR camera to take some great pictures. This renewed my longing for something better to capture pictures of my world, than my quite frankly, crappy iPhone camera.

I’ve luckily been gifted a Nikon D5100 camera from some friends who no longer use it and they vehemently insisted that I take it with me, enjoy it and make the most of a camera that was otherwise in the cupboard. Not only did they give me the camera, they gave me a fantastic long-range lens, so now I need to work out how to use it and take the best pictures I can!
If I hadn’t been given a camera, I was looking to get a Nikon / Canon from eBay and then getting some nice lenses to use in the future. However, I’ve fallen on my feet and this amazing camera is now mine!
I don’t have a clue on how to use it, so I’m going to spend the foreseeable watching YouTube videos and practice by taking pictures of the Handsome One, Bella and the horses.
I write this blog for me; a little place where I can document the things I love to cook, the adventures I share with my Handsome One, my successes and failures in the garden, a reminder of how far we’ve come when renovating the house and those little moments of happiness that may otherwise slip my mind in the future. So having nice pictures on the blog for when I look back would be fantastic!
