The Handsome One is a northern (and has the best accent), so last weekend we went up North to visit the family as there were two very special birthdays happening; his Mum’s and nephew’s.
After a four hour drive, with a loo break for me and Bella, we arrived at Saltburn-by-the-Sea on a sunny Saturday afternoon and man alive, it was good to see the sea. My tummy still does somersaults as soon as I get a glimpse of the water!

Since rescuing Bella we have never taken her to the beach and we didn’t know what to expect, but Bella being the absolute beauty she is, took it all in her stride! We had a lovely little paddle (the HO couldn’t come with us as he had jeans on) in the sea, saw a jelly fish and promptly ran out.

Even though it was a lovely sunny day, it was rather windy, so we walked along the coastline until my ears got cold then we turned around and headed back to the pier for the BEST fish and chips.
On the way back we spotted a kestrel hovering in the air with it’s eye on some prey. Can you spot it in this picture?

By this time we got back to the pier, we definitely deserved these fish and chips.

Lots of salt, lots of vinegar and then a splash more for good luck.
With full bellies and no room for a lemon-top unfortunately, we headed back to the HO’s family home, where we sat outside with the family, had beers, ate lots of food, laughed and then took it in turns to play music well into the night with whiskeys in our hands.
An absolutely brilliant way to spend a weekend.
