Last Sunday I was incredibly lazy, and I’m not even slightly exaggerating.

The Handsome One had to go away for work last weekend, so I woke up early with him and cooked him breakfast. Then Bella and I waved him off into the pouring rain and we went straight up the stairs and back into bed. We got all cosy with the rain beating against the windows and watched Bridget Jones Diary – I’ve not seen it for ages and I forgot how much I love it!
I had a leisurely lunch sprawled across the sofa (in my dressing gown) with copious cups of tea and whilst Bella was there to give me plenty of cuddles, she still needed a walk.
Luckily, even though the temperature had dropped (which is no bad thing), the weather had relented meaning I could take a stroll without looking like a drowned rat and it was a gorgeous walk. It also got me excited thinking about Autumn and how it’s not far away.

Obviously, having done nothing all day, the walk was tiring meaning another film was in order, and what better than some Julia Roberts in your life?

I’ve loved this film since my teens, so I was happily reciting the words and singing along. Although, watching this made me realise that it’s starting to look a bit dated, but nonetheless still one of my favourite film.
Even though our lovely neighbours invited me round for a gin, I decided on having a leisurely bath with my latest read by Ruby Wax, Sane New World, which is brilliant.
Suitably pruney, it was time to start thinking about supper for Bella and I. Luckily hers is always pretty straightforward but seeing as I’ve done sod all the entire day, I wanted to cook something tasty with leftovers for lunch. So I decided on a chickpea curry (recipe here), which is not only tasty and comforting, but extremely easy.
With it being a Sunday, it seemed totally appropriate to prep with a glass of Pinot Noir in hand.
Basically, the reason for me boring you with my lazy Sunday is that it made me feel so much better for doing nothing. Like so many others, I have a demanding job with a two hour commute each day; we also have a beautiful dog who we love walking everyday but that’s something else to do before you even start thinking about supper, tidying up and just general life maintenance.
So, make yourself have that selfish time to read your book, go for a walk, meditate, cook, do yoga, watch a film – just anything that you want that gives you time to relax. You’ll feel so much better for it and you deserve it.
A x
