London Bound!

I’m so looking forward to this weekend as we are off to London! We both visit the capital quite frequently with work, but all I do is get the train in, have a meeting, grab a coffee or some lunch and head back to the station. Yes, there are occasions where I have a glass of wine on the rooftop terrace of our office but rather unfortunately this is a rare occurrence.

Being the lucky girl I am, this weekend away has all been organised by the handsome one and the piéce de résistance is a visit to the one and only Ronnie Scott’s on Sunday night! I adore jazz and somehow I have never been before, so I am beyond excited. We are going to see the Jazz Orchestra, which looks incredible – here’s a link to a great video. Seeing as Sam Smith, Laura Mvula, Paloma Faith, Gregory Porter were there only last weekend in aid of the brilliant War Child charity, I’ve got my fingers crossed at least one of them might be there this weekend (wishful thinking, I know).

As much as I’m looking forward to spending a few days with my gorgeous man, I’m feeling guilty because we’re putting Bella and our family dog, Skye in kennels. Bella has not been in kennels since we rescued her but she’ll be sharing with Skye, who is phased by nothing so I’m sure they’ll be fine together. Our elderly princess Skye is visiting as my parents are away so she is gracing us with her presence and windy bottom.

We arrive at lunchtime tomorrow and are staying in Kensington, which is a great location because we’re close to the museums, Hyde Park and Knightsbridge which I know fairly well as it’s where the London office is. There’s a little place called Harry’s Dolce Vita which I’ve walked by a few times and it looks incredible, so I’ve booked a table for tomorrow afternoon so hopefully we’ll be able to snag a table outside (request has been made), have a glass of vino and try some delectable items on the menu – tuna pizzetta, I’m looking at you.

We’re not off to Ronnie Scott’s until Sunday evening, so we’ve got plenty of time to do what we want, which is incredibly exciting in itself! No house renovation, no chores, no worrying (too much) about the dogs or chickens; we can just think about what we want to do and spend some quality time together. Most probably just walking around, drinking wine, people watching and laughing.

We’re a country of hard workers and a prime example of this is the handsome one arriving home last night at 10.30pm – it’s so important to make time for you and yourselves as a couple, and I cannot wait for our mini-break away.

I have no doubt that the plants and veggies in the greenhouse will survive a couple of days without me, although I do need sow some more lettuce as I planted the seedlings out and it’s been eaten. Cheers snails. On a positive note, I have seen the start of actual broad beans! I was slightly worried because I overwintered them and even though they flowered, they looked a bit sad for themselves, but they’ve proved me wrong. I actually caught Edna (one of the chickens), eating ants off the broad beans, which was very entertaining – I’m not sure how many she got, but she definitely gave it a go shot.

Have a lovely weekend!
