The Perfect Start to Winter

I’m sure you may be sick of seeing and hearing about the snow, but I cannot get enough of it! Funnily enough, I’m actually writing this post as I sit on train and try to thaw my frozen toes as the water has got through my very impractical boots. However, I still love it.

There’s nothing quite like the British seasons; spring with the promise of new life, summer heavily scented with BBQ’s and laughter, autumn with its rustic reds and leaves falling all around you, and last but not least, winter with its bare trees, white ground laden with the footsteps of the local deer exploring their area that at other times of the year you would not see.

Winter for me brings with it Christmas and whilst I unfortunately know that Santa won’t be paying me a visit, there are so many other events to look forward to.

Due to the fact the kitchen has only recently been installed, I’ve not been able to cook the things I’d have liked in advance, such as mincemeat, pickled onions (my absolute favourite), Christmas cake and such like. However, I am on the countdown as Monday is my last day in the office and I’m going to be baking up a storm – that is of course if I can find all my cooking items which are in boxes in the dreaded loft.

It has been many years since I’ve seen snow fall like it did over the weekend for us in the Cotswolds, and they joy it bought to everyone around me was just incredible. The icing on the cake was that it was the handsome one’s birthday, so we were sat around the fire with his parents who had visited, watching the snow fall and in that moment, those bi-folds paid for themselves.

Winter has well and truly arrived and if this is the start of things to come, then I for one am absolutely delighted! So keep your feet warm, enjoy the season and stay safe.
