Hello Friday, you gorgeous thing you. Is it just me or has it felt like this week has really dragged? I’ve got a long weekend to look forward to at the end of the month, which will set me up for the best month of the year; December! However, that’s still three weeks away and there is plenty to get done before then, which leads me onto my plans for this weekend.
- Assembling the kitchen – no small feat. Now to caveat this, the handsome one and I have assembled furniture in the past but never a kitchen, so just writing this makes me feel nervous. *gulp*
- Spending time with my family – my parents live in Shropshire and we’ve wanted to have them stay over, but seeing as the spare room is a dumping ground and there is no door on the bathroom (I know) it’s not ideal to have them stay. However, I hope they’ll pop down for the day and we can go for a drink at my favourite pub in Moreton-in-Marsh, The White Hart. It’s a hotel but it has a brilliant ‘snug’, which is essentially a bar, with flagstone flooring and a big beautiful open fireplace that’s totally dreamy on a chilly day.

3. Looking after my garden. You’ll see on my Instagram that outside the back of our house is an absolute tip, but there are some areas of the garden (my veg patch and front garden) that look a bit better. Therefore I’m going to spend some time this weekend weeding, sweeping the leaves, removing the nasturtiums that have already self-seeded and I only grew them from seed a few months ago and taking out the broad beans that went to flower too early, but fingers crossed the second time will be a charm.

4. Painting the bathroom. The handsome one has amazingly, fitted the shower and the sink, as well as grouting the wall tiles, but I need to get in there will my roller and work my magic.
5. Lastly, but definitely not least, I want to paint the chimney breast, which I’m so excited about! We’ve splurged and bought Farrow & Ball, Down Pipe to use, which is a beautiful dark grey with undertones of blue that will go beautifully with our Fairford Graphite kitchen, which we bought from Howdens. We also bought a piece of elm from a local reclamation yard, which I need to treat and then we can fix that to the wall, but only once I’ve finished the painting.
It goes without saying that wine will be consumed, The Times will be read and breakfast will be eaten in our pyjamas with multiple cups of tea because that’s what weekends are all about and things like that shouldn’t even be an option.
Have a great one, whatever you get up to!
