5 things I’m up to this weekend

Happy Friday everyone!

For some reason I’m extremely excited about this weekend, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that our wood burner has been installed and the fridge is full of my favourite wines and beers. Can I just say it is full, but I’m not the only one that will be drinking.

Here’s a few things that I’m planning for this beautiful autumnal weekend;

  1. Going for a lovely long walk. We now live in a village that is ‘nestled in in the rolling hills of the north Cotswolds’ and we’ve not really come up for air since we’ve lived in the house, so I think it’s time to pull on the wellies, zip up the Barbour, fill a flask with Bovril and get out to explore our new area. The handsome one bought me a couple of OS maps, which would have come in extremely handy but I have no idea which box they’re in, so getting lost may also be on the cards!
  2. Waking up on Saturday morning, making a cuppa and putting the fire on. I understand that this might sound a little odd and you may be asking yourself, why oh why, would I list that as a plan? Well I will tell you! I have always dreamed of having my own home in the country with my own fire and now, its become a reality and I don’t think I could appreciate it more.

  3. Painting. I know, crazy! The house has been completely transformed by the plaster and now it’s time to transform it again and paint the kitchen. We went paint shopping last weekend and bought paint for the ceiling, kitchen walls and the pièce de résistance is the paint we bought for the chimney breast; it’s Down Pipe by Farrow and Ball and I can’t wait to see it above the fire.
  4. Seeing my friends. I’m sure I can’t be on my own in falling off the radar when renovating a house; it’s all-consuming and I’ve not been the best at replying to messages and keeping in touch. Luckily my friends are awesome and one of them is popping round with her two gorgeous girls this weekend and I can’t wait to see them.
  5. Wax my table. My table, guys, my table (you’ve got a dirty mind…). Anyway, you might have seen that I’ve been up-cycling a table that I got for free on Facebook Marketplace and I have to say it has come up and absolute treat. Here it is before I’ve waxed it or finished painting (I’m painting the legs in Farrow and Ball’s Cornforth and I’m pretty pleased), but not bad for a free table, hey?

Whatever you get up to, I hope you have a lovely weekend 🙂
