Home Renovation: The Ups & Downs

I’m sure many of you who have or are renovating your house will appreciate exactly why I’m writing this post.

Spoiler alert: it’s bloody hard work.

As you may have realised, we are out of our gorgeous rented cottage in less than two weeks and into a house that is still a building site, no joke.

Updating, modernising and renovation is an emotional rollocaster. One day you love your builders and heating installers and are happily having a cuppa with them; the next day you’re grimacing at them whilst silently plotting their death because they’ve destroyed your floorboards, which you’ve lovingly sanded down, or building regs are having to inspect the house because the piece of steel which will be above the bifold doors is not to standard.

Anything going wrong has a HUGE impact on those timeframes you’re working towards and now time is not on your side, then the fear, panic and stress starts to kick in.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to push back getting our bifolding doors installed tomorrow, which I’m pretty peeved about.

So to all of you who are currently renovating or have done so previously, I raise my glass to you! Well done and I hope I get out of it with some of my marbles still intact.

P.S. As I knew the doors weren’t coming tomorrow, the handsome took the protective sheets off the wall so I could have a glimpse of what my view will be in the not too distant future. Looking out, I know it’s going to be worth it.

A x
