GUYS. Our notice has been handed in, therefore that means that we have just over three weeks to leave our cottage and get our house in a live-able state.
The vegetable patch is looking great – the plants are producing beans and peas, the potatoes and broad beans are growing brilliantly, and I’m not far from pulling my beetroot. So, that’s all looking good, but unfortunately we can’t live in the garden.
We had a call this morning from the heating company saying that they are going to have to push the oil installation back from this Wednesday to next Monday, as one of the guys has broken his arm. NOT IDEAL.
That means we have to have a whole new oil heating system installed next week and the majority of work downstairs needs to be completed in one week, before the bi-folding doors are installed the following Monday. That is ONE week to get a hell of a lot of work done, as really the bi-folds should be the last thing that is installed to avoid any damage being done to them.
The kitchen, flooring, electrics, plastering, rendering, bathroom and so many other things need to be fitted and completed, as well as purchasing things like the slate for the fireplace, oven, hob, plaster and a million other items that makes my head spin just thinking about it.
Oh, and did I mention that we need to start packing up the house? Isn’t packing everyone’s favourite thing to do? No, of course it isn’t! So I should really start getting some boxes, but with having a full-time job, two dogs (our family dog, Skye is coming to stay for a while), a house to renovate and needing sleep, I’m not entirely sure when I’m supposed to actually get around to packing. Are there any ways to get a few extra hours in the day?
I don’t mean to sound like I’m moaning (even though I am), I’m just starting to panic slightly that there is so much to be done for us to be able to move in. However, you should be pleased to know that the loo is no longer in the kitchen – hurrah! And speaking of, here is a mock-up of our kitchen, as it’s nice to see pictures that don’t look like a building site!

Wish me luck, I reckon I’m going to need it!
