I’m so glad it’s Friday and especially happy from what I’ve just hear on the Today programme on Radio 4. They’ve said a study has suggested that people who drink alcohol 3 or 4 times a week are 30% less likely to develop diabetes, over people who never drink – show me the prosecco!
We’ve had quite a productive week with regards to the builders. We met one last Friday and he really wasn’t pleasant. The handsome one is rather handy, so wants to do some of the work in the bathroom like the tiling and the idiot builder turned his nose up and could barely even be bothered to look at me. I retaliated by not offering him a cup of tea. Brutal, aren’t I?
However, we’ve had two other lovely builders over and we may just divvy the work up as one of them can start sooner that the other and I’m really keen to get things going.
Some extra work came out of having the knowledgeable builders round, as there is extra work to do to make the outdoor room a utility. We need to get the concrete up that is currently on the floor and put in damp proofing, brick up another door and install some insulation. Luckily, it’s nothing too expensive or time consuming, which is always helpful!
We’ve also purchased a kitchen! We went with Howdens and they were absolutely brilliant. Their designs were spot on, happy to help and give suggestions, so really couldn’t fault them and now I just can’t wait to receive the kitchen, even though we won’t be able to install it until the building work is completed.

As we are having a utility, it has given us the opportunity to make the most of the space within the kitchen, and rather than having top cupboards – which I believe will detract from the bi-fold doors – we are going to have oak shelving so we can showcase some of the lovely kitchen items we have. Luckily we are both pretty tall!
I hope you all have a lovely Friday and a great weekend – don’t forget to have that gin & tonic you deserve it π
