Life

Our beautiful Bella

A way for you to get to know me better is to know how much I love this face.

We have always known we wanted a dog together, but we didn’t want to rush getting one and our main priority was getting a dog that would be happy with our lifestyle, as we both work full-time. We know a dog would suit our life as in our free time we spend our time walking, visiting National Trust venues in our area and going to the pub – I mean what better reward is there than a lovely pale ale or a G&T after a long walk with your trustee sidekick?

Having rescued a dog in the past (a handsome staffie called Mr Darcy) and there was no way we would do anything but this time. A couple of months ago, we made the decision to visit the Dogs Trust in Evesham to see if there were any gorgeous pooches who would like to have us as their parents! Having visited rescue centres before I tried to toughen myself up before walking in, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was lovely, open, airy and the dogs in general seemed relaxed.

After a sit-down with one of the members of staff, we went to walk around and mark any dogs that we felt were suitable. After talking through our options, we decided that the dog most suited to us was Sarah, a beautiful labrador cross from Ireland. At that point we met her, went for a walk with her and then signed on the dotted line that she was going to be coming home with us!

Just before we left (in a state of disbelief as we had only gone in to have a look at the dogs!), I wanted to go and have a look at her and there she was, lying on her blanket fast asleep on the floor next to a rather handsome black labrador who was in an equally restful state. This was the point I then burst into tears because I was so happy we were going to take this princess home and give her the life she deserves.

She has now been living with us for 6 weeks and she has fitted in perfectly – she’s a gentle soul with a really goofy side and we’re so lucky that she’s ours.

This man below is to thank for us rescuing Bella. I sadly lost Mr Darcy a few years and I could never thank him for how much he taught me.

Mr Darcy, you’ll always be in my heart.
